The route
The long way to Newport Beach. Michael grew up in Upland, California, and went east to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. Four years of training there included two years sailing on international cargo ships. He graduated a licensed merchant mariner and a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. Seven years in commodities and bulk shipping followed, including work as a commercial ship broker. After his time in the Navy and in shipping, he started in real estate in Manhattan, moved to Orange County, and has held a California license since June 2021.
